I had never been to Stradbroke Island and had no idea it was almost within spitting distance of home (well, half hour drive to the marina and then and hour and a bit on the ferry but really, it's right there). Mum and I spent a glorious day over there photographing the water and wild life. Our guide, Shane said we were very lucky and in his time coming to the island with many people, he'd never seen so much wildlife in one trip.
He looked so pround sitting in his big tree!
This mumma koala jumped from one tree too another with her baby hanging on tightly around her tummy (hard to see in the photos but it is there, I promise!! You can see his arm clinging onto mums armpit!)
We watched for ages as this pod of dolphins swam way out to sea, breaking the surface now and then. They slowly made there way to us and incredibly, caught a wave and rode it right to us. Five of them came to within 50 metres from shore, popping out of the wave, both front and back. They were just so beautiful :)
The beautiful water and surf..... so inviting :)
Loved the colour of this little shell, I've never seen a purple shell like this before.
And this was our last stop, Brown Lake. The colours in the water were amazing and you can easily see how the lake got its name ;)
I had a great day on Stradie and would love to go back for another adventure some day soon........ really soon!!
