FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 52 technically and one missed one

These are the final images in my 52 week project and I'm kinda sad its over but kinda super happy too.  Some week I was especially slow in getting a photo up, some week missed out entirely and some weeks I was looking around for something to post because I hadn't picked my camera up to shoot at all that week.

I finish on a 'high' for the final image of the year and it is a totally fun shot of my fun friend Laina.  Whilst visiting our friend Shelley while she was house sitting in Glasshouse Mountains, Laina was very excited to see the trampoline and promptly jumped on.  She is doing her biggest "Whooooooooo" to bring in the new year.

This was week 48 and for some reason, I totally missed it.  It is taken from the stairs at the back of our unit block and sometimes if we're lucky, the horse will jump for right outside our back fence.  Most days I'm either not even aware they are there or when I remember to look, they aren't jumping anywhere near us.

For those of you who have followed me all year during this project and everything else, I thank you and say "Whooooooooo" to you and to 2012.  I do hope it is by far the best year for us all and I look forward to sharing all my snaps throughout the year xx

(: HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

To everyone out there, I wish you a safe and happy Christams and hope you enjoy your day, whatever you are doing and where ever you are.  I look forward to sharing many more photos with you in the coming year but until them, he is a little bit of Xmas to finish this week.

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 48

As per usual, I'm late with this weeks photos.  Although, to make up for it, I have a beautiful little 9 day old named Harvey.  We had a tough shoot last weekend with him but I think he just wanted cuddles from mum and didn't want to have his photos taken.  We put him in the suitcase on the super soft blanket and almost right away, he went to sleep and started smiling.  He was so incredibly cute and it was almost like he as having a wonderful dream with the grins he turned on and off (mum said it was probably wind but I'm going with, he was performing for me and the camera hehe).  We didn't get everything we wanted that day but I'm looking forward to going back when he is a few months older and we'll try again with a few different ideas.  Thanks to Colleen and Joel for letting me capture your little bundle of smiles and I look forward to seeing you all again.

Have a super week everyone :)

WEEK 47 - Fun Foto Friday

With summer now officially upon us (although it feels like its been summer for weeks now) I couldn't help but share this little guy who was out and about at a recent photo shoot.  He was such a stunning orange and he hung around for a while watching and fluttering about, like he wanted his photo taken too.  Once I'd shot him he pretty much left almost straight away like his work there was done.

Have a beautiful first weekend of summer, where ever you are and whatever you do :)

xx

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 43 & 44

So its totally official, I'm pretty slack some weeks..... well..... most weeks (lets be honest) when it comes to the Fun Foto Friday.  I'm trying hard not to give up because I've some so far this year already, it would be silly to throw away all the effort.  The two photos that are featured this week (and last) are two that I did for the Canon 5 Comp.

The first is "Foam" and shooting macro - I used a shot glass in dish washing bubbles and swooshed it around then stood it in the light of the afternoon coming through the window.  It has been edited and cropped from the original but the shapes that are inside the glass where made with foam.  My hubby pointed out the trophy and I saw the bear at the bottom.  I loved the colours and how it all looked in the end.

This was my "Powder" attempt and I wasn't all the happy with it in the end.  I had to use a fast shutter and I was trying to capture both the colours as they fell but like most things, they never work the way you hope on the day!  The green looked awesome though and against the darker green background, I loved it!!

And thanks to my awesome husband Mark for his assistance and hands xx

WEEK 42 - Fun Foto Firday

These are the younger magpies that like to hang around our clothes line waiting for the guy upstairs to throw down his scrap bread crusts.  It can get annoying on washing day just because I can get the occasional dropping on my clothes or towels.  Magpies don't generally like me either and they tend to want to 'go' me whenever they can or swoop and dive.  I've been told that magpies are excellent at remembering faces so if you are nasty or aggressive towards them ie. "shooo you bugger.... get outta here" waving arms and yelling, they will always remember and will 'go' for you again and again.  On that note, I don't look them in the eyes so I seem submissive and they will know that I mean nothing to them.
Big toughy I am!

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 41

I totally forgot to post this one last Friday.  I managed to get it onto my facebook page but neglected my dear old blog.  This weeks photo is of the adorable little Reagan.  She was on a visit from Melbourne and we spent a cloudy afternoon with the mossies getting some shots of her in my headbands.

She was such a well behaved little girl.  She is nearly 3 but you would have never guessed - she did everything she was told and did it all with a big smile.  Big thanks to her mum Yesmin and little brother for their patience while we fussed about getting some gorgeous shots of this beautiful girl.

Thanks Reagie to you too xx

I can't wait to share more from this afternoon, she was such a sweet heart......

WEEK 40 - Fun Foto Friday

It was very difficult to pick only one photo from this shoot.  We had postponed twice already due to the recent bad weather and yesterday was no exception.  Leading up to the shoot, in stormed and rained heavily and even when I was on my way to meet Corinne at the beach, it was raining and I was driving towards a massive dark cloud.  I truly thought I'd get there and once again, we'd have to make another day or cancel all together.  To my absolute surprise, by the time we got to the beach itself, the sun appeared from behind a cloud and for 20 minutes, we had the most unbelievable light!!  We were even lucky enough to have a random beach go-er come a give us a quick hand, getting the material in the air.

I am delighted with the shots that we got and this one is all in the name of FUN.  In the editing process I gave it a vintage wash and an old school feel.  The sky was just beautiful at that moment and I just love this shot and Corinne's big smile.  Thanks for you patience and persistence and I can't wait to share more!

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 36, 37, 38 & 39.... whoops ;)

WEEK 36
Well, aside from my first anniversary falling during the week and my husband taking the day off to hang out with me, I have had a very quiet and some might even say lazy week..... I haven't even picked up my camera.  I did however spend a lot of time editing this week and getting some model call outs finalised for the coming weeks.  This series of shots is from my recent trip to Stradbroke Island.  We were watching a pod of dolphins way off shore for ages and then a small group made their way towards us.  I was so excited that I was able to capture them as they broke the surface..... not just once but twice..... WOOHOO for me!!

This is the series as they got closer to us, first swimming, then one popped out the front and a little bit later, one popped out the back.  The water was such an unbelievable shade of bluey green and was crystal clear - it was just amazing.

WEEK 37
This is the beautiful Sarah and Jake from their recent wedding at Yandina on the Sunshine Coast.  It was such a most gorgeous location, it was actually hard to shoot at as there was so many different places to shoot, I felt a little overwhelmed.  This is one of my favourite shots of the day and I adore the look of love that is being exchanged here...... *sigh*

WEEK 38
I love Spring and I especially love the smell of Spring.  This 'yesterday, today and tomorrow' tree grows outside my office window and when the breeze is just right, I get a big whiff of its glorious scent.  I spotted this little fella on a return from a walk and didn't think I'd be lucky enough to get in the house, get my camera, put in the card and get back outside to shoot him before he took off.  But luck was on my side that day and he was still there.

I love the colours together and I can't wait to print this baby on a big ol' canvas :)

WEEK 39
I recently did a model call out on my facebook page for some little girls to model some of the headbands that I've been making.  This is little Charlotte who is 8months old and was such fun to photograph.  Mum, Rowena, was an amazing help getting her to smile and clap, she even had me giggling!  We spent a windy afternoon at their picturesque home on the Sunshine Coast and we go lots and lots of gorgeous shots of this little princess.

Obviously this isn't on of the headbands that I've made, but a beanie I bought as a prop.  I hadn't used it and my adorable model was more than happy to help me out hehehe!

Who doesn't love a little monkey!?!?  Can't wait to share more from this shoot........ :)

WEEK 35 - Fun Foto Friday

My view just before lunch yesterday while sitting on North Stradbroke Island.  I know... it's a tough life but someone has to do it hehe :)

Spent a beautiful day yesterday with my mum, taking photos up and down North Stradie.  It was the first time I'd been there and it really was a great day. On top of the amazing views, crystal clear waters and beautiful beaches, we got to see a mother and baby koala, huge pods of dolphins as well as surfing dolphins and we were even entertained with breaching whales so we were incredibly lucky.  I was wanting to get some shots of wave spray and this was one of my favourites of the day.  I will have a post coming soon filled with all the lovely views and cute animals.

Thanks for taking me mum, I had a top time xx

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 34

How cute are they????

This is Jake and his bride to be Sarah.  I went to high school with Jake and it is with much excitement that I get to photograph his wedding tomorrow to the delightful Sarah.  We met up last week at the location for there nuptials this weekend, a gorgeous little place in Yandina on the Sunshine Coast.  It is a fabulous country style home estate that functions as a restaurant and holds events on their beautiful farm with spacious grounds, old wooden structures and stunning views.  While there we had a few shots to mark the engagement before the big day on Saturday.
I'm really looking forward to it and hope the weather stays sunny for us tomorrow afternoon.

This is one of my favourite shots from their shoot last week, taken in front of what will be the reception area, a big old funky shed.  We had a good time that afternoon and I got some really lovely shots that I'm looking forward to topping this weekend at the wedding!!

xx

WEEK 33 - Fun Foto Firday

What a fun afternoon we had at the Ekka last week from the steak burgers and beer to the strawberry ice cream to the people watching (and whoa..... that alone made for quite and afternoon), we had a fun and colourful day out at this years Royal Brisbane Show.  In the end, we probably missed a lot of things but my shoes were giving my the biggest blisters on heel and toe (step 2, 3, 4....) that we ended our afternoon a little earlier than planned but still put in a good few hours enjoying tasty beverages, the obligatory Dagwood Dog and walking through the games and rides.  I managed to take a few shots, dragging my self away from the people watching - what an interesting bunch Brisbane is...... very interesting!!! hehehe :):)

My favourite is probably the bottom left just because of the awesome colours in the middle and funky patterns.  I've been dying to get a good shot of the ferris wheel for ages but when I went to shoot it, I was devastated to find out that there was little to no colour in the carriages, the wheel itself or the uprights..... just plain boring beige so I was left a little disappointed but I'm still happy with my shot.  Makes me feel like a big kid looking at them and I can instantly hear the 'carnival' music
 all over again :) :) :)

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 32

As you've seen over the past month or so, I've started making my own headbands to use with my photography sessions (especially the little baby girls) and I've gone nuts and made so so so many, I've decide to try and sell some too so I need to get a few shots to use for marketing.  This week I had the always adorable Eden Rose as my model for a few of my favourite pieces.  I was lucky enough that the weather came good for me that afternoon after an overcast start to the day!!  And Eden was awesome!!!  She let me put on and take off 13 different headbands and we changed her outfit 3 times all with minimal fuss and only a few mini m&ms!!

I have many gorgeous shots of Eden from the afternoon and know I've got a lot of work ahead of me editing but this one stood out as a favourite for me.... 1.... because I especially love this headband and ...2..... Eden looks so very grown up.  It's hard to believe she'll be 3 at the end of the month..... already.  I still remember her as a sweet little bubba with such a beautiful little smile and now she's a funny, talkative toddler and will most likely have at least one toy car in her hand/pocket!!  Her mum Renee always has a camera in her face so she is a total natural and always a pleasure to work with.

Thanks girls for a fun afternoon and for helping me out to get some great shots of my headbands

WEEK 31 - Fun Foto Friday

Feeling like a big kid this week and armed with matches and a packet of sparklers, I took Mark outside and got him to show me his sparkle magic!!  This was just in the back corner of our backyard the other night and for what ended up being just a quick few snaps (they were really smokey and we live in a unit block so I didn't want any of the neighbours to freak out that the backyard was on fire), I'm really happy.  I have a shoot coming up and thought using sparklers in such a way might make for a bit of fun so I'm really looking forward to having another go.

Have a super sparkly weekend :)

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 30

I came across this shot when I was going through some past clients and working out of all my many favourite shots, which ones would I get printed on canvas as my examples.  This was a wedding shot back in October of my beautiful friend Sophie and her now husband Clive and it was a great day and we got plenty of great shots.  Surprisingly, this shot didn't make it into the first cut, let alone the final choices for editing.  Sometimes I really surprise myself when I see shots like this and can't work out why it was never chosen.  I think in cases like this wedding, there were just so many good shots, it was hard to see all of them.  I have surprised myself and have chosen an additional 8-10 photos from that day that I will be working on..... missed in the initial cull.

I love the way they are just gazing at one another and sharing so much love in such a quick snap shot of the day :)

xx Have a lovely weekend xx

WEEK 29 - Fun Foto Friday

I have previously posted about this sweet little dog but I went and paid her a visit during the week and with a ball and a pocket of treats, Abbey let me take her pictures again.  She will be 11 years old in November but she is still the playful little puppy she's always been.  I tell you what though.... she is incredibly stubborn when it comes to dropping the ball so the game of fetch can continue - a concept I thought she'd be well aware of by now.... cheeky little tart.... hehe....  :)  She would hang on to it nice and tight in her mouth and then be jumping up as if to being 'giving' it to you and bark and growl but wouldn't give it up!!  Then, she'd keep barking and growling and jumping and pretty much be saying "Here take it, just take it take it TAKE IT....... do you want the ball??"  Cheeky little tart alright.... but ever so cute :)

Abbiy used to be my dog Billie, his girlfriend so I've known her for a long time now, about 8 years and she was so happy to see as I was her and I got so much love from her when I got there, one can't help but smile and shower her with just as much love.  Her mum has been in the hospital this week but will be home today so I'm sure she will be thrilled to have mum home and be able to shower Ann with love and lots of kisses.

Take care Ann and quick recovery xx

I will share more shots of this sweet thing through the week and you can see her a couple of her photos from last year here

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 27 and 28

I'm am so incredibley slack some times and have only just realised that I didn't post last weeks Fun Foto Friday.  I managed to post on my FaceBook page but not here for some reason...... but never mind, because this week we get to double up!!

Week 27

I've been busy making my own photography props for my little girl clients.  I was struggling to find headbands that I liked (and that I could afford) so decided to start making my own.  Well, all I can say is that I've created a monster!!  I can't seem to stop making them now!!  I've got so many that I've dedcided to start selling some on Etsy and on Madit.com.  These are a few that I've put together.....

I have headbands for newborns up to adults!!
Week 28

Last weekend my good friend Renee Skewis (of Renee Skewis Photograhy) let me tag along to a maternity shoot with her.  They were a super lovely family.  We did some great shots of Danielle with her gorgeaous tummy, with proud dad Damien and then with the kids for a family shot.  I was really happy with the few that I got and especially loved the first one with Nick laughing his head off (that was how the afternoon was.... lots of laughs but a few tears too!).

Thanks to everyone for letting me take a few snaps and can't wait to meet your new little man :)

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!

WEEK 26 - Fun Foto Friday

We are now half way through the 52 weeks challenge and again I'm cheating (ohhh ahhhh).  I didn't technically take these photos this week but I did edit them and just fell in love with the colours.  I am a huge fan of bright and funky artwork and I really think grafitti is an awesome art style.

I found these walls locally and am thinking about turning them into backdrops for photoshoots eventually but for now, they are just photos and I've also turned them into Canvas Art.

My favourites are the top two on the left but I am a sucker for magenta yellow together, hence the business colours!!

Fingers crossed others like them as much as me :)

FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 25

I am cheating a little bit this week but when you see the photo and reason why, I know you are going to understand!!  This is little Isla and these photo were taken last week but while I was going through and editing, I came across this absolute beauty.  I had this idea in my head for a photo but was still unsure how to pull it off when the shoot rolled around.  Isla wasn't having the best start and it didn't help when I wanted her undressed on a chilly morning at the Glasshouse Mountains so I figured I would set up the shot and have a go and if I got nothing else that morning, then so be it.

I love it when things work!!!

This, if you can believe, was the very first shot if the day and it was easily the winner in this series with the set up.  She was so adorable and it looks like the headband even fits (it was massive, after this mum Kay Ellen had to keep pulling it back up from falling down her face constantly!).  I was so happy with how the final shot looks, it's going straight into my portfolio!!

We had a bit fun and it was a delight to meet this absolutely beautiful little girl.  I'll be going back for cuddles again this coming week and I'm looking forward to that!!

I have lots more sweet photos of this little princess which I'll share in the coming weeks :)
