FUN FOTO FRIDAY - Week 17

I decided to call this guy Ralph..... he looks like a Ralph to me!

Ralph was just hanging out one afternoon in a neighbour's tree when we went to go for a walk.  As we wandered by, he was making a lot of noise, like he was having just the best time, getting drunk on some sweet, sweet flower juice, on a sunny Sunday afternoon!!!

He was a little bashful and I thought maybe the camera shutter was making Ralph either nervous.... or he was being a little bugger and just running away from me, like he knew what I was trying to do!
I was fairly close to him but he had a friend that was wayyyyyyy up the top of the tree and hard to get a good view of (other than straight up his tail)!!
I followed Ralph for a while and the whole time he and his mate were both singing away and enjoying their juice!

This is Ralph between sips of the beautiful flowers on a flowering gum tree.

Apparently it's a dwarf variety of grafted eucalypt.

ENJOY your weekend :)

Week 10 - FUN FOTO FRIDAY

This week I've got some pretty red roses.  Everyone deserves a rose and today is no exception!!

We're off to north Queensland for the next 8 days and hopefully won't get flooded in and will be able to return home.  Looks like we'll have to send tonight in Cairns before heading to Tully to see Marks parents in the next couple of days.  The weather prediction isn't looking very good and the highway is already closed but we have faith we'll get to see his folks and have a nice trip away.  My week 11 for Fun Foto Friday may be late next week, as we arrive home on the Saturday but hopefully I'll have something nice to share from our journeys around Nth Qld.  Fingers crossed y'all :)

Happy Friday everyone :)

Fun Foto Friday - Week 3

This week has been so hot, you wouldn't believe it's been raining here since summer began but this week it was back with a vengeance!!  I saw this guy out the office window yesterday and he seemed to be 'playing' for my attention.  So I grabbed my camera and went straight outside to try and get a shot of him.  He totally had other ideas though.... He flapped about and went from tree to tree, flower to flower and branch to branch for a-g-e-s while I followed closely behind, ready to snap when he finally stayed still.  After about 30-40 minutes of him playing with me and getting my hopes up, he eventually landed and remained still for 0.5 of a second, but long enough for me to capture this.  I love it because it really says summer to me with the big yellow flower in the background :)

Week 2 - Fun Foto Friday

These gorgeous little flowers grow down the road from where I live in Hendra and totally grabbed my attention with their vibrant colours. I could've put photos in this week of the devastating floods but decided that we have had enough sadness this week and thought a bit of colour to brighten our day was in order!! If anyone knows the name of these little beauties, please feel free to let me know.

Have a wonderful weekend all :)

NEW NEW NEW

YAAAAAAAAAY!!  It's finally finished and has arrived!!  Introducing the new look for

Kylie Gillis PHOTOGRAPHY

I couldn't be happier with how it all looks.  My logo and personalised marketing set were designed by Kim Drury of Madilu Designs in the US and all I can say is thank you thank you thank you!!
With just a small amount of info and a colour suggestion, Kim was able to create something that is so very me and far beyond my imagination and expectations!!  I am in love with my logo and I especially love the chunky stripes in the marketing set to grab your attention.
Now just to have everything printed......

Obviously, as you can see above, I'm really loving yellow at the moment and these tulips below were just so stunning.  As flowers do though, they did bend and 'flop' down the side of the vase they were in.  What I loved was the gorgeous, bulbous bottoms.  The petals felt and looked tight and thick.  As lovely as the fronts always are of flowers, the back can be just as interesting, if not more because its not the part of the flower we tend to admire.

My favourite is the last one showing off his backside ;)

I've got lots to post about to stay tuned for some great photos and a small competition coming soon too!!

Pretty......

I found this little guy in the same place that I left the frog found in my washing, outside the neighbours place, surrounding the base of a very large tree.  These first photos are from the first day I saw it.

Then a couple days later I took a few more photos and then a couple days later again and it had changed once again and this time had little yellow flowers.  I totally love the colours, the hot pink to the deep dark purple and then the bright highlights of yellow.

I have no idea what plant these leaves are from other than they are outside our unit in the neighbours yard.  To me it looks just like a vine or climbing plant of some sort.  I just loved the look from underneath the leaf and when I played around with them, the veins in the leaves became so prominent.

Fun-ky

This week was a fairly quiet week for me in terms of taking photos but I have been very busy on the computer on photoshop, playing around with new actions and different effects.  I feel I have accomplished very little as I don't have a lot to show visually for my week but I know I've learnt a lot and taught myself some nifty new tricks and techniques so I say I've had a win this week.  Below is the funkiest fence I've ever seen and reckon it would make a fantastic backdrop in playful portraits with a great little model.

I felt they were worth sharing!!

Next is a rose that I snapped locally in someones garden.  I loved the orange and the swirls of colour, both light and dark.  Initially, I did this up to make some 'Save the Date' cards for my sister for her wedding later in the year.  We've gone with another photo to match her wedding day colours but I think this rose deserves to stand alone.  Like I say, everyone loves a rose:)

Have a great weekend.  Until later.... click, click ;)
